What Umm Hend has to say...

Art:

I've been an artist since i can remember, sketching with pencil as my main medium. Sometimes painting with watercolour or acrylic on canvas, paper, wood, stone, people...

Today most of my art is done Digitally through Digital Art, Web Design, Photography, Photo manipulation and Dolling.

I have not had any formal training and failed art in High School for not conforming however i was always known as a prolific artist and others always enjoyed my work as much as i enjoyed doing it.

Dolling:

I started Dolling in 2004, originally i just used Paint and other peoples bases but went on to make my own bases and make my dolls from scratch for the most part. My dolls were known for being faceless and became very popular with muslim women online.

The dolls can be found at www.moartists.blogspot.com

Writing:

My work has been published in two books.

One poem/story called "The Observer" in New Zealand in a book called 'Bona Fide', and poems and a pencil drawing in an anthology in the USA called 'Many Voices, One Faith.'

My story has also been published in a book in the USA called 'The Face Behind The Veil' written by Donna Gehrke-White.
